"X" marks the spot where a Conlyn Marine Services customer was anchoring at Gustavia, St.Barthelemy when he lost his water pump v-belt.
"We were under our diesel auxiliary, anchoring in a fairly tight situation in about 15 knots of wind ...when the temp alarm went off. I went below to see a steaming engine and a broken belt by the engine mounts. While my wife tacked with a tight main, I grabbed the spare belt and replaced it...VERY quickly. We'd lost about a gallon of coolant so I drew a pitcher of steaming hot water from the galley tap and poured it in...didn't want anything to crack! After starting the engine and setting the hook I went back and adjusted the belt tension. It was Miller...er...Merlot Time!"
